CREA: Documentary "Shared Memories" in Honour of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day

  • CREA 170 Nieuwe Achtergracht Amsterdam, NH, 1018 WV Netherlands

"Mémoires Partagées - Shared Memories" tells the story of Thierry Sebaganwa, a survivor of the Tutsi genocide of 1994 in Rwanda. Thierry hid his sister at a Huti family and hid himself in the roof of his house, ideas he got from a film he had seen about the Holocaust. In 2005, Thierry turned his house into a museum “Shalom House” where students and survivors learn about the holocaust and process their own painful experience. Unable to find the words to tell his own story, Thierry has realised that opening up to others leads to better awareness of oneself.

Mémoires Partagées, now showing for the first time in The Netherlands, received the student jury price at the Human Rights Film Festival.
