Journal Porn Features: Versal (of course!)

Wondering about the sexy-as journals featured at our upcoming Journal Porn offsite in Seattle, and the stellar writers who are coming out to represent them?

One of those sexy-as journals is one you know & love. Versal.

Seeing as you're reading this on our website, we're going to assume that Versal needs no introduction. So we'd like to take up some web space (and some of your brain space) to introduce you to two lovely writers who will be reading Friday night in our name: Samuel Ace and Rochelle Hurt.

Samuel Ace’s books include Normal Sex, Home in three days. Don’t wash., and, most recently, Stealth, with Maureen Seaton (Chax Press). He is a recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts grant, two-time finalist for a Lambda Literary Award in Poetry, winner of the Astraea Lesbian Writer’s Fund Prize in Poetry, The Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Fiction, and the Firecracker Alternative Book Award in poetry. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in: Kenyon Review, Eoagh, Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics, Mandorla, Rhino, Versal, The Volta, and others. He serves on the board of POG: Poetry in Action, a poetry collective and reading series. He lives in Tucson, AZ and Truth or Consequences, NM.

Rochelle Hurt is the author of The Rusted City, a novel in poems published by White Pine Press. She has been awarded several poetry prizes, including the 2013 Richard Peterson Prize from Crab Orchard Review, the 2011 Rumi Prize from Arts & Letters, and the 2011 Ruth Stone Poetry Prize from Hunger Mountain. Her work has also been published in Best New Poets 2013, Mid-American Review, The Kenyon Review Online, The Collagist, Versal, and elsewhere. Currently, she is a PhD candidate in English & Creative Writing at the University of Cincinnati.
