Wondering about the sexy-as journals featured at our upcoming Journal Porn offsite in Seattle, and the stellar writers who are coming out to represent them?
Well, today we've got this greatness:
Two Lines, the journal of the newly minted Two Lines Press, has been publishing the best international literature in the best translations for two decades. A program of the Center for the Art of Translation, Two Lines has introduced American readers to essential international voices, from Nobel Laureates to invigorating new writers. We also believe that translation is an art form, and we celebrate the complicated and creative process of rendering a foreign tongue in English—our primary concern is beautiful writing beautifully translated, published in beautiful books.
Reading at Journal Porn for Two Lines are Erica Mena and Kaija Straumanis!
Erica Mena is a poet, translator, and book artist. Her translation of the Argentine sci-fi graphic novel The Eternonaut is forthcoming with Fantagraphics. Her work has appeared in The Iowa Review, The Kenyon Review, Two Lines, Versal, Vanitas, Words without Borders, PEN America and elsewhere. She is the founding editor of Anomalous Press, an innovative online journal and handmade chapbook series; and managing editor of Drunken Boat, an online journal of art and literature.
Kaija Straumanis is a graduate of the MA program in Literary Translation at the University of Rochester, and is the editorial director of Open Letter Books. She translates from both German and Latvian. Her translation of Latvian author Inga Abele’s High Tide was published with Open Letter Books in fall 2013, and she is currently working on the translation of Zigmunds Skujins' Flesh-Coloured Dominoes, forthcoming from Arcadia Books in fall 2014.
